New Rules II
Continuing our series of "rules" for DE courses, based on my new experiences as a DE student (instead of teacher):
4) If you're going to issue grades for online student discussion board entries, you need to explain why full credit is or is not awarded - every time. Absent some explanation (and/or warning, prior to issuing a grade), there's no way for a student to understand the meaning behind the grade, no way to adapt, and no easy way to avoid frustration. Student frustration -- not such a good thing.
More, next time frustration comes my way.
P.S. Even a 9 out of 10 can frustrate, if the student doesn't know what warranted the loss of that single (10%) point.
