Distance Ed funding - From the DoL
Forgive my brevity on this post, but I'm on my way out and didn't want to miss this one:
T.H.E. Journal's Dave Nagel reports here that "The United States Labor Department today announced that it's issuing a $3 million grant to the Western Governors University (WGU) in Salt Lake City, UT. The monies will be used to expand distance learning for students in the teaching profession, with particular emphasis on math and science."
My former employer, East Carolina University, had a robust relationship with the NC prison system through its distance outreach program. Several of my colleagues had good experiences, teaching prisoners via televideo, so I'll just wish Western Governors U similar success and be off.
