Welcome to my occasional ruminations on digital media and its use in journalism and education.

Why "Digital Ed?" Double-entendere. The site is a place for discussion of digital education and my SL avatar's name is Ed. That's it.

Sundance Channel in SL - A good thing?

NBC move over. Sundance Channel has the right idea for a Second Life island.

Coming in January, we can expect independent film premiers, mini-docs... oh, let them explain:
The main attraction of Sundance Channel's Island will be a large screening room called Studio 4A. This will be the place to be for all kinds of special events like film premieres, concerts, talks and more.

There will also be several smaller, private screening rooms, on the island, where avatars can gather to watch and discuss independent films, award-winning documentaries, shorts and animation from around the world - all on demand.

There will be after parties, places to hang out after the screenings and our lounge will even have an outdoor hot tub looking out on the mountains. Check back in a few days for some of the first pictures!
So, what's up with NBC? 19 sims and no programming? All those bucks and minimal content?

Well, yes. IMHO, it seems as though NBC just doesn't get SL and Sundance does. Either that, or NBC has a secret plan for SL success and is just waiting to surprise us with it.

Yup.
