Linden: Islands "sometime before the end of the year"

I seem to recall that timing is the heart of comedy. In Linden land (Second Life), timing also reigns over tragedy - or at least annoyance. About a week ago, a client of mine ordered a Second Life island. We expected to wait a month, but were surprised to receive an e-mail that led us to believe the wait would be much shorter:

Although this [getting an island] sometimes takes as little as a few days, currently we are running at around one week (5-7 business days) delivery time.

Fantastic. We prepped our "build" team for launch.

One week later, the news is somewhat different:

If you ordered an island, you can expect to see it go live sometime before the end of the year."

Growing pains from a rapidly expanding Linden empire? Certainly - even understandable, on a certain level. Annoying? You bet.

Perhaps this is a silly question, but if LL can manage a currency exchange system (a somewhat complex operation), might one suspect they could avoid promising 5-7 day delivery when the wait could be nearly two months?

It may be that I am overly demanding; but I dislike advocating for a service - in this case, Second Life - that doesn't allow the businesspeople I'm consulting for to execute a timely plan.

I'll let you know when the island arrives.
